Independent caterer and hospitality group CH&Co has received a three-year catering and hospitality contract from the University of Northampton.

As part of the deal, worth £12m, the independent contract caterer will offer catering and hospitality services at the food and drink outlets on the university’s original campuses starting August this year.

Under the contract, the company will operate nine food and drink outlets including restaurants, cafés, hospitality services, vending machines and all soft services at a 32-bed hotel allocated for hospitality and tourism students.

In addition, CH&Co Group will renovate the existing Newton Café on Avenue Campus with new standards.

“We’ve created a bespoke catering and hospitality offer that reflects its innovative vision and sustainability focus.”

CH&Co Group business development director Charles Willoughby said: “The new partnership strengthens our position in the higher education market, and we certainly mean business.

“The university is a dynamic, inclusive and forward-thinking establishment that really resonates with our own culture.

“Quite rightly, we’ve created a bespoke catering and hospitality offer that reflects its innovative vision and sustainability focus and will enhance the students’ university experiences.”

In addition, the catering company has devised a three-year sustainability plan that includes initiatives to reduce single use plastics, increase all possible recycling opportunities, use electric vehicles on campus, source from local suppliers and producers, and promote healthy and sustainable meal choices.

University of Northampton project director Robert Griggssaid: “The team understands our vision and plans and its strong retail experience will be very helpful in ensuring that our model works and that our students receive a positive and thoughtful experience at every catering and hospitality touchpoint.

“The partnership so far has been very positive. We look forward to working in close partnership with CH&Co in making our catering and hospitality services very successful.”
