Online restaurant reservations platform OpenTable is now allowing users in the US to redeem its OpenTable Dining Points for discounts at hotels booked through search engine KAYAK.

The scheme will allow OpenTable customers to save between $20 and $200 on their stay at more than 400,000 participating hotels.

OpenTable chief technology officer Joseph Essas said: “This will be the first of several additional ways that OpenTable users will be able to redeem their Dining Points.

“We’re looking forward to rolling out more options in the near future to further enhance the Dining Rewards programme.”

“OpenTable diners are avid travellers, so we are excited to offer a Dining Reward that will help them save on their next trip.”

Costumers earn OpenTable Dining Points by making and attending reservations at participating restaurants. The points can be redeemed for discounts at more than 20,000 participating restaurants on the platform.

The hotel rewards are only available to US customers that have at least 2,000 points in their account.
