India-based Rebel Foods is set to boost its partnerships with restaurants chains that are leveraging its Cloud-kitchen network to widen their reach.

The Sequoia Capital-backed online restaurant firm runs Cloud kitchens from more than 320 locations for its own brands such as Oven Story, Behrouz Biryani, Faasos, and Mandarin Oak.

Furthermore, it outsources its kitchen to other brands under the Rebel Launcher Program.

It currently works with 15 restaurant chains, including Wendy’s, Anand Sweets, and Mad Over Donuts.

Under the Rebel Launcher Program, the firm intends to add another 15 restaurant brands and increase the number of online restaurants from the present 250 to 400 by the end of this month, reported LiveMint.

Rebel Foods co-founder and chief business officer Ankur Sharma was quoted by the publication as saying: “Post-Covid Rebel Launcher evolved in a different manner. We have really picked up pace on this and right now there are almost 15 partner brands working with us.”

Sharma further added: “The idea is to take these to almost five to six times (in number) more by the end of this calendar year. By the end of March, 250 will become 400. We have a couple of deals and big brands that have gone through.”

Introduced in 2018, the Launcher Program offers a complete operating system, with  kitchens, technology, distribution channels and supply chain, to entrepreneurs.

Cloud kitchens are basically commercial cooking facilities that do not have physical dining space but cater to only online delivery orders.

Rebel Foods recently teamed up with Sierra Nevada Restaurants to build and operate around 250 Cloud kitchens of Wendy’s across the country.

In the Delhi-NCR region, it opened 20 Wendy’s kitchens. Around 20 Cloud kitchens are likely to open within five weeks.
