Supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is launching ‘Santa Paws Dinner’, a pop-up restaurant for dogs, in London this Christmas.

The doggy diner will be open for three days during the festive period from 13 to 15 December.

Owners will be able to bring their dogs to the restaurant, which offers Christmas dinners and mince pies especially designed for the canines, with owners being served a Christmas sandwich and glass of fizz to have with their pet.

People who want to visit the Santa Paws Dinner but don’t have a dog will be able to attend one of three sessions being held on 14 December where Sainsbury’s will provide guests with a friendly dog to join them for Christmas dinner.

Sainsbury’s will donate all the money raised from the pop-up restaurant to its charity partner Guide Dogs in line with its aim to ‘Help Brighten a Million Christmases’ this year.

Sainsbury’s pet product developer Sanj Kaushal said: “While the nation tucks into a delicious Christmas lunch each year, our beloved dogs are often stuck with their everyday dinners. With such a large proportion of our customers having pets, the happiness of the four-legged animals are as important to us as their humans.

“So, this year, we want to offer a ‘silver-service’ Christmas dinner experience for our customers’ canine friends and get them involved in the festivities. We’re really pleased to also be offering a wide range of innovative Christmas pet food and treats for both cats and dogs, so our customers nationwide can treat their furry friends to an extra special feast this year!”

Guests can book their slot at the pop-up restaurant online costing £5 for one owner and a dog which includes entry for a 45-minute session, food for the dogs and their owners.
