Global food and drink travel operator SSP Group has secured two catering contracts worth approximately £70m over nine years with two Brazilian international airports.

The two contracts mark the company’s entry into the South American travel market.

SSP and Duty Free Americas (DFA) will work collaboratively under a joint venture partnership to introduce various international brands at the GRU Airport – Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo, and the RIOgaleão and Tom Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro.

Both airports combined serve 56 million passengers a year.

“Our new operations at two of Brazil’s most prestigious airports will provide us with a strong platform to grow our business in this rapidly developing region.”

As part of the contract, SSP will open a Ritazza coffee shop, Factory Bar & Kitchen contemporary restaurant, Upper Crust bakery, Jamie’s Deli, Italian chain Barzetti, Mi Casa Burritos Mexican-themed concept, Monty’s Dogs & Cones hot dog stand, O’Learys sports bar and healthy eating brand Camden Food next year.

SSP Group CEO Kate Swann said: “We’re delighted to be making our first move into the exciting South American market. Our new operations at two of Brazil’s most prestigious airports will provide us with a strong platform to grow our business in this rapidly developing region.”
