Fast food sandwich restaurant franchise Subway has introduced a vegan sub and salad to its permanent menu in stores across the UK.

Both options feature a vegan patty with red pepper, chilli, garlic, and red onion. The chain has also introduced a creamy vegan egg-free garlic aioli.

This is not the first vegan-friendly option Subway has introduced to its menu; last year the company launched ‘The Vegan Delite sub’ to its menu in Finland.

A spokesperson for Subway told Plant Based News: “Whether you’re veggie, vegan, flexitarian or just fancy a meat-free munch, customers may in fact be surprised at how much of the menu at Subway is already suitable for vegans.”

Other fast food chains to introduce vegan options to their UK menus recently include Greggs’ vegan sausage roll and Burger King’s Impossible Whopper.
