Global foodservice distribution company Sysco has completed the acquisition of US-based distributor J Kings Food Service Professionals.

Headquartered in Holtsville, New York, J Kings Food Service offers distribution services to various customers, including restaurant operators, institutional, retail and multi-unit businesses across New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.

The broadline distributor has an annual turnover of $150m in sales.

Sysco US foodservice operations executive vice-president Greg Bertrand said: “J Kings is a well-respected, New York area broadline distributor, and we are happy to welcome them into the Sysco family of businesses.

“As Sysco continues to focus on M&A as part of our strategic growth plan, we believe J Kings, with its strong local presence, combined with Sysco’s scale and depth, will provide our customers with even more of what they need to be successful in the competitive New York area market.”

In addition, J Kings founder and chief customer officer John King and other executives will continue with the company.

Sysco markets and distributes food products to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, as well as lodging establishments.

The company also offers equipment and supplies for the foodservice and hospitality industries. It currently operates approximately 332 distribution facilities globally and has more than 69,000 employees to serve 650,000 customer locations.

In June, the company announced the expansion of its production facility at 1032 Baugh Road facility in Selma, Alabama, will be complete this month.

In January, Sysco signed a definitive agreement to purchase US-based broadline distributor Waugh Foods.
