Fast food restaurant chain Taco Bueno is planning to permanently close 16 locations in the US in order to position the brand for future growth.

The restaurant chain has made this decision following a strategic depth review of the brand’s entire restaurant portfolio. These locations are spread across Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.

Taco Bueno chief executive officer Omar Janjua said: “We continually review our restaurant portfolio performance. These closures were a strategic decision based solely on business demands and changing traffic patterns.

“It is our plan to reinvest in new locations and to remodel others to better serve our guests.”

“We are committed to growing this brand for the future, and this portfolio adjustment will allow us to pursue new restaurants.”

The company has already closed one restaurant in Kansas and two in Kansas City, Missouri.

Remaining locations to be closed include two in Arlington, three in Fort Worth and one each in North Richland Hills, Dallas, Balch Springs, Granbury and Harker Heights, Texas as well as one location in Oklahoma City.

Taco Bueno announced that it has transferred managers and employees impacted by this decision to other restaurants within its system based on availability.

Janjua added: “We are committed to growing this brand for the future, and this portfolio adjustment will allow us to pursue new restaurants in strong trade areas and expand Taco Bueno’s presence to serve more guests, and provide more jobs in communities eager for value and quality dining experiences.”

Established in 1967, Taco Bueno currently operates more than 170 restaurants across the US.
