Canadian restaurant chain White Spot is set to expand its menu with the addition of a new avocado Beyond burger, starting 15 April this year.

The new burger will feature 4oz chargrilled 100%-plant-based Beyond burger patty along with avocado, pickled onions, roasted corn, crisp lettuce, vine-ripened tomatoes, jalapeño ranch and edamame hummus.

It is served with a choice of Caesar salad, The Spot’s salad, or creamy coleslaw and ‘endless’ signature Kennebec fries.

It will be available across all full-service White Spot restaurants in British Columbia and Alberta.

According to the restaurant chain, customers can substitute fries for zoo sticks, poutine, onion rings or sweet potato fries for an additional fee.

In addition, the company will feature the Beyond burger patty in its new Southwest power bowl.

“We take pride in having something on our menu for everyone and our new Beyond Meat menu items are an example of how our brand continues to respond to changing demographics, taste profiles and menu trends.”

White Spot president Warren Erhart said: “People often ask me how White Spot continues to grow and remain relevant after being in business for over 90 years.

“I tell them, it’s because we’ve never taken our success for granted. We take pride in having something on our menu for everyone and our new Beyond Meat menu items are an example of how our brand continues to respond to changing demographics, taste profiles and menu trends.”

Beyond Meat CEO and founder Ethan Brown said: “White spot has nearly a century of burger expertise under their belt and shares in our commitment to creating high-quality, delicious burgers.

“The Beyond Burger provides the satiating taste of a traditional burger but comes with the added health and sustainability benefits of plant-based meat. We’re excited to see how White Spot brings it to life across their menu.”

White Spot is also allowing customers a chance to order the avocado Beyond burger and southwest power bowl as vegan options.

Furthermore, the burger chain is planning to add the Beyond burger patty in a new Beyond original signature burger and a limited-edition mushroom avocado Beyond burger at its quick-service restaurant brand Triple O’s starting 6 May this year.
