
Starbucks is set to energise its menu with the introduction of a banana protein cold foam, a new offering that taps into the growing trend of protein-enriched foods and beverages.
The product was unveiled at the Starbucks Leadership Experience 2025, held on 10 June and 11 June in Las Vegas in the US state of Nevada..
The protein cold foam is currently under trial in a select few Starbucks locations through a programme named Starting Five, which seeks customer feedback on new items. The full release timeline for this menu addition remains undisclosed.
The move into protein-rich offerings aligns with a current health trend, as celebrities and influencers advocate for increased protein consumption.
Starbucks’s history with protein beverages dates back to its discontinued Vivanno protein smoothies, which included a banana-flavoured option until 2008.
Despite recently reducing its menu, Starbucks continues to introduce new items. Following the announcement of its summer offerings, the chain revealed four new Frappuccinos with cold foam: Salted Caramel Mocha, Strawberry Matcha and Brown Sugar. The Firework Frappuccino, a limited-time offering for US Independence Day, adds a “festive twist” to the Summer-Berry Refresher, as reported by food influencer Markie Devo.

The Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop is another new treat, featuring strawberry cream cake and buttercream in the shape of a strawberry, dipped in chocolate icing. These introductions follow Starbucks’ removal of 13 drinks from its menu on 4 March. 2025.
