
In a move to broaden its international presence, South Korean fast-food chain Lotteria has announced plans to open its inaugural Malaysia outlet in 2025.
The burger chain is operated by Lotte GRS, an affiliate of Lotte Group.
Lotte GRS has entered a master franchise agreement with Malaysian retailer Serai Group.
The master franchise agreement enables the franchisee to establish and manage Lotteria outlets in Malaysia and sub-franchise these rights to other parties, as reported by the Yonhap news agency via The Korea Times.
Lotte GRS plans to inaugurate 30 Lotteria locations in Malaysia up to 2030.
The chain is also gearing up to make its debut in the US with its first outlet opening in August 2025 in Orange County, California.

The new establishment will take over a previous KFC site which has been completely renovated.
The brand, which originated in 1979, offers the Bulgogi Burger, inspired by the traditional Korean grilled meat dish, and the Shrimp Burger – a minced shrimp patty.
Its menu also features Korean-inspired items such as the K-BBQ Bowl, Shake It Chicken, Shake It Fries, the Bibim Rice Burger, the K-Sweet and Spicy Chicken Bowl, and Cup Bingsu, a Korean shaved ice dessert.
The latest venture in Malaysia follows Lotteria’s recent plans to penetrate the Philippine market, as disclosed by the Philippines Department of Trade and Industry.
Lotte GRS has close to 1,000 outlets in South Korea and 320 internationally. This includes 258 stores in Vietnam, six in Laos and in Mongolia, and 50 in Myanmar.
