The Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade (DCCPFT) has formed a working group to enhance collaboration between public and private sector companies in the online food delivery industry.

The initiative is part of DCCPFT’s efforts to strengthen the sector, which includes the release of new guidelines created with input from industry stakeholders, as reported by WAM, the official news agency of the United Arab Emirates.

The guidelines are intended to promote competitiveness and uphold business standards while encouraging investment in the market.

Distributed to industry owners and operators, they provide recommendations on best practices related to platform engagement terms with food establishments, data accessibility and transparency.

The framework is informed by extensive input from delivery operators, food establishments and other relevant parties, to foster competition and support sector development.

Although primarily aimed at operators, the guidelines are expected to have a positive impact on the broader food delivery ecosystem.

Following the introduction of these guidelines, DCCPFT will engage with stakeholders across both public and private sectors to gather industry feedback and propose future actions to facilitate growth and competition in the sector.

DCCPFT Fair Trade and Business Protection director Ahmad Ali Moosa stated: “The online food delivery sector has witnessed robust growth in recent years, and we recognise the vital role the delivery platforms play in contributing to the overall growth and innovation of Dubai’s food and hospitality sector.

“Dubai prides itself on its public and private sector partnerships, and we have formed this working group and developed these guidelines hand-in-hand with the industry to encourage sustainable growth and further elevate business standards, while promoting collaboration, transparency and fair competition for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
