
Sugarloaf TGIF Management, which manages the TGI Fridays brand, has renewed franchise development and master franchise agreements with its long-term partners Franquicias Alimentarias in Peru and Watami in Japan.
TGI Fridays operates more than 30 restaurants across both countries. The latest agreements will facilitate the establishment of more than 50 new outlets.

The brand’s strategy prioritises franchising and features a flexible business model that accommodates formats such as flagship locations, hotels, airports and smaller urban sites.
TGI Fridays has opened a new restaurant at Real Plaza Primavera in Lima, increasing its number of locations in Peru to 20.
A new restaurant has also been opened in Yokohama, Japan, further solidifying the brand’s presence in the Kanto region.
In Peru, Diego Roca, the founder of Franquicias Alimentarias, is leading the expansion, having increased the number of locations from two to 20, with plans to develop up to 30 restaurants under the new agreement.

In Japan, TGI Fridays has established itself within the casual dining market, and the renewed franchise agreement is expected to support further growth into new areas.
In urban centres where space is limited and rental costs are high, the brand is adopting a smaller footprint that retains TGI Fridays’ signature bar experience.
This approach is being implemented in locations including Yokohama’s Yamashitacho, which operates in just over 150m² and accommodates 70 guests.
The Mariscal Sucre Airport in Quito, Ecuador, features a compact site of just over 100m² and a beach container in Dubai, United ARab Emirateswhich operates successfully in just 14m².
