Global coffeehouse chain Starbucks is set to open a new Community Store in Dallas, Texas, US to support economic development and create employment opportunities.

The new store marks the first for the company in Texas and the 12th nationwide. It is a part of the company’s ‘Reimagine RedBird’ revitalisation efforts and an initiative to support young people and financial development in diverse areas.

3i Contracting, a minority-owned contractor and partner of Starbucks, has been assigned to build the new store.

“This store was built by and for this community, and we are excited to become the local hub for coffee, connection and community.”

Starbucks South Central Operations regional vice-president Traci York said: “Starbucks believes in investing in the communities it serves, and we are so proud and excited to be part of ‘Reimagined RedBird’.

“Our store partners are eager to demonstrate a successful business model that represents all of the opportunity that exists here. This store was built by and for this community, and we are excited to become the local hub for coffee, connection and community.”

Starbucks introduced the Community Store initiative in 2015 and opened 11 locations across the US.
