
French bagel chain Bagelstein has launched its inaugural Indian outlet at Nexus Mall in Kukatpally, Hyderabad.
Bagelstein’s menu at the Hyderabad outlet includes the Halloumi Bagel and the Josephine Bagel. All offerings are made with fresh ingredients, as reported by The Hans India.
The Hyderabad location food and beverage options, and includes smoothies, iced teas and coffee.
The outlet’s interior design reflects Bagelstein’s European style while incorporating elements of local culture. This blend aims to attract Indian consumers seeking international dining experiences.
Bagelstein founder and CEO Thierry Veil was quoted by The New Indian Express: “India presents a strategic growth and exciting opportunity for us, and we are delighted to introduce our delicious blend of French charm and cuisine to Hyderabad.”
Bagelstein plans to open 100 outlets across India by 2029, as reported by World Coffee Portal.

By GlobalDataIn August 2024, the group signed a master franchise agreement with Haryana-based FranGlobal. The brand plans to expand in major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune.
Founded in Strasbourg in 2011, Bagelstein operates 100 stores across France, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
The group is also exploring opportunities in the UK and Germany and has signed franchise agreements for the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
India has become an appealing market for coffee chains aiming to expand internationally.
In January 2025, Greek coffeehouse chain Mikel Coffee announced its plans to enter the Indian market in partnership with Haryana-based consultancy firm Greko India.
In February, Coffee Island, in a partnership with local franchisee start-up Vita Nova, opened its first Indian store in HQ27, Gurgaon. The coffee chain has a longer-term goal of reaching 250 outlets in the country by 2029.
In April, Indonesian coffee chain Kopi Kenangan made its debut in India with a store at the Pacific Mall, New Delhi.
The company plans at least ten stores in the country by the end of 2025, with a longer-term goal of 50.
