Chinese coffee chain Cotti Coffee has opened an outlet in Jakarta, Indonesia, World Coffee Portal has reported.

The opening of the new store in Kuningan City Mall is part of the company’s international expansion strategy.

Cotti Coffee in Jakarta will be competing with other well established brands such as Kopi Kenangan, which operates more than 800 outlets in the country as well as other grab-and-go coffee brand  Janji Jiwa.

The coffee chain brand was created by the former Luckin Coffee executives Charles Lu and Jenny Qian in October last year.

It operates both company-owned as well as franchised locations across China.

Since its inception the company has opened 5,000 locations.

Cotti Coffee is said to offer value-focused coffee menu and targets conveniently located stores in order to increase its customer base.

Last week, the Chinese coffee chain opened its first overseas location in Seoul, South Korea.

Cotti Coffee chief strategy officer Li Yingbo was quoted by World Coffee Portal as saying: “The business model has been fully verified. On this basis, the company decided to officially start the internationalisation strategy.

“We believe that in overseas markets where the brand is ageing, product innovation is insufficient, and internet applications are backward, the model of Cotti Coffee will definitely show strong vitality.”

Going forward, the Chinese coffee chain is also planning further expand its Asian footprint with plans to open new stores in Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.

Additionally, the coffee chain reportedly launched a global franchise recruitment to support its overseas expansion plans.
