US-based group purchasing organisation (GPO) for foodservice operators Dining Alliance has introduced Buyers Edge platform for the foodservice industry.

The company has developed the platform in a move to offer direct contracts on behalf of its foodservice procurement members and includes a network of GPOs, service companies, technology providers, and supply chain consultants currently serving more than 45,000 locations across the industry.

Dining Alliance CEO John Davie is planning to divest the purchasing volume of its Buyers Edge platform, as well as its member companies to entegra Procurement Services, a division of Sodexo North America.

Apart from Dining Alliance, other procurement members of the platform include Consolidated Concepts, Buyers Edge Purchasing, Axis Purchasing, Sundell and Associates, RP Procurement, FoodBAM, Source1 Purchasing, Fresh Concepts and other member GPOs and consulting companies.

As part of the deal, Entegra’s supplier agreements portfolio will be integrated with custom agreements negotiated by the Buyers Edge platform team or the Sodexo team in a move to enhance the value created for the member companies and participants of the platform.

According to the company, more than 20 purchasing-oriented companies including purchasing consultants, technology providers and food and supplies manufacturers have joined the platform.

In addition, the platform allows food and restaurant supply distributors to gain new business through contracts with platform member GPOs.

Furthermore, the platform offers data management, contract management, and analytics tools to its partners.

Food supplies and equipment manufacturers will gain insights about their operator and GPO trade spend through the platform’s data and technology services and use them to sell more product, deploy customised promotions, as well as provide feedback for product development.
