Pizza delivery company Domino’s has started testing GPS driver tracking service across 27 corporate-owned stores in Phoenix, Arizona, US.

Customers can place orders from one of the participating stores and track the location of their order and driver using a map from the order confirmation page of or the Domino’s app.

The app will send an estimated delivery time to customers, who can also opt for message notifications to alert them when the order is two minutes away.

Domino’s Pizza senior vice-president and chief digital officer Dennis Maloney said: “We’re excited to offer this feature to our customers.

“Transparency on orders that are out on the road makes a big difference to customers, as well as drivers and store managers. With GPS tracking everyone can have the best possible delivery experience.”

In addition, the service provides delivery drivers with capabilities, such as optional navigation and one-touch customer callback.

Store managers can also keep a track of all of their drivers who are out for order delivery via a driver-tracking screen at the store.

Furthermore, the pizza chain plans to extend the service to select stores in three franchise markets including Lansing, Michigan; Roanoke, Virginia; and the suburban Seattle-Tacoma, Washington area, later this spring.

Domino’s Pizza operates more than 16,100 stores in over 85 markets around the world.

Earlier this month, the company reported a 6.4% increase in revenues to $835.96m for the first quarter (Q1) ending 25 March 2019, compared to $785.37m for the same period last year.
