
Global foodservice equipment provider The Middleby has acquired Josper, a manufacturer of charcoal grill and oven cooking equipment for commercial foodservice.
Josper offers cooking equipment such as ovens, grills and other cookware to steak houses, brasseries, tapas bars, bistro-cafes, traditional restaurants and haute cuisine.
Josper Charcoal Oven is a combination of a grill and an oven that works with charcoal, and has different levels of grilling with a front opening door system.
Based in Pineda de Mar, Spain, the company currently generates $20m in annual revenues.
Middleby CEO Selim Bassoul said: “Josper is a recognised leader in the specialty charcoal cooking category. Charcoal cooking is a growing trend in the US and markets globally due to the flavour profile and versatility of the equipment.
“Josper has led the way in this category introducing market-leading innovations allowing for faster grilling times and a superior, natural grilled taste.

Middleby is a developer and manufacturer of equipment for food processing, foodservice and residential kitchen industries.
Brands offered by the company for the foodservice industry include Anets, Beech, Blodgett Combi, Bloomfield, Carter-Hoffmann, CookTek, Eswood, Firex, Goldstein, Induc, Josper, L2F, Market Forge, Pitco Frialator and Wunder-Bar.
Financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
