American fast food giant Pizza Hut is set to serve antibiotics-free chicken across its menu items by 2022.

This initiative will be implemented across all its chicken products including WingStreet wings. The decision follows the removal of antibiotics from its chicken for pizza nearly a year ago.

Pizza Hut chief brand officer Marianne Radley said: “We are dedicated to listening to our customers and to serving better food.

“We will continue to push ourselves to ensure that we are delivering the quality food and quality experience our customers expect and deserve.”

“Today’s announcement to no longer serve chicken raised with antibiotics by 2022 demonstrates our commitment to serve food that not only tastes great, but that customers can feel good about eating.

In 2016, the fast food chain planned to remove butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) preservatives from all meats, while last year it committed to eliminating the use of artificial preservatives from cheese.

The company also committed to remove artificial flavours and colours from its core pizzas in 2015.

Pizza Hut has removed partially hydrogenated oils and monosodium glutamate (MSG), as well as three million pounds of salt from its ingredients in the last six years.
