India-based magicpin and the ride-hailing company Rapido have formed a partnership to challenge the market power of Zomato and Swiggy in the country’s online food delivery sector, as reported by PTI.
The collaboration will see magicpin’s nationwide network of restaurants integrated into Rapido’s food delivery platform Ownly.

Ownly will gain access to more than 80,000 restaurants in India once the onboarding process is finalised.
magicpin will be able to use Rapido’s delivery fleet in select locations.
Rapido launched Ownly in August 2025, initially limiting services to a few Bengaluru neighbourhoods such as Koramangala, HSR Layout and BTM Layout.
The collaboration with magicpin supports Rapido’s efforts to expand Ownly’s footprint beyond these areas.

By GlobalDataIn an email response to PTI on the partnership, a Rapido spokesperson stated: “Rapido primarily on-boards restaurants directly through our merchant team, with only a very small share coming via partners like magicpin. We also work with magicpin and others in select cities as a logistics provider, where our captain fleet supports last-mile deliveries.
“Our focus remains on building reliable, affordable, full-stack discovery and delivery solutions for merchants, while ensuring a seamless experience for customers and captains.”
Some restaurant chains listed on magicpin’s platform see the tie-up as expanding their options.
NKP Empire Ventures CEO Shakir Haq stated: “magicpin being there for a long time, being successful and Rapido also coming along, it should be a great advantage for restaurants.”
NKP Empire Ventures runs the Empire Hotels & Restaurants chain.
Swiggy had earlier revised the terms of its relationship with Rapido.
On 31 July, Swiggy had indicated it was “actively re-evaluating” its investment in Rapido, noting that Rapido’s plans to enter food delivery could lead to a conflict of interest.
In September, Swiggy’s board cleared the divestment of its stake in Roppen Transportation Services, the operator of Rapido, for nearly Rs2.4bn.
Meanwhile, Zomato has an interest of approximately 15% in magicpin.
