US-based steakhouse brand Red Horse by David Burke has opened its third restaurant in Bernardsville, New Jersey.

The restaurant, which is housed in the 116-year-old Bernards Inn, can accommodate 120 diners at its tables and in the bar.

The company said that the new restaurant features locally and globally sourced seasonal products such as Italian truffles, bison from New Jersey’s Fossil Farm and Barnegat Bay oysters.

The location will offer steak cuts that have been dry-aged using the company’s US-patented pink Himalayan salt process.

It will also offer other dishes such as the Clothesline Bacon, the maple black pepper glaze, the pickle lemon and lobster dumplings, the miso tomato, chilli oil and preserved lemon.

Red Horse Brand owner David Burke said: “We are all very excited about this project. This is one of New Jersey’s greatest, iconic properties and we are bringing it back to its glory days.

“Ever since I was a young chef, I had a lot of respect for this property and its contributions to New Jersey’s fine dining scene.

“The area’s residents are well-travelled, sophisticated diners, who want a relaxed yet refined place to dine nearby. So, for the concept I looked to the old horse country feel and the graciousness that came with that era invigorated by my playful style.”

The company also announced that the second Bernards Inn restaurant by David Burke will open in December 2023.

The new restaurant, named The Bernie, will be a club-music venue with a sushi bar.

It will have seating space for 100 guests and will host comedy shows, musical entertainment, wine dinners and trivia nights.
