Celebrity chef Rick Stein and his wife Sarah Stein are set to open a new restaurant at the beachfront IHG hotel in Sydney in November 2025.
The 224-seat venue, Stein’s third establishment in Australia, will feature a signature restaurant, bar and courtyard terrace. The couple previously opened restaurants in Mollymook in 2009 and Port Stephens in 2018.
Stein stated: “Coogee Beach is yet another stunning coastal location for our Australian restaurant portfolio – perched by the sea and full of the laid-back charm we’ve come to love so much here.
“It’s especially meaningful for me, as my wife Sas grew up in Sydney, so opening a restaurant in her hometown makes this venture all the more special for us both.”
The menu features a variety of seafood including mahi-mahi and blue swimmer crab from Nelson Bay, Stockton pipis from Port Stephens and line-caught mackerel from Ulladulla.
Patrons can also expect British-style fish and hand-cut chips with mushy peas and Singapore chilli crab among the traditional Australian seafood offerings.

By GlobalDataStein said: “There’s an abundance of top-quality seafood in Australia and we’ll be championing local, seasonal produce with the benefit of accessing the biggest fish market in the southern hemisphere.
“We’ll continue to utilise the relationships we’ve built in our regional locations to source that same produce in Sydney. It’s the best of both worlds.”
Sarah Stein’s influence will extend to the interiors of the new dining spot, which is part of the recently announced transformation of the Intercontinental Sydney Coogee Beach, formerly known as the Crowne Plaza.
As a part of the refurbishment, the hotel is to feature a pool deck with views of Coogee Beach and a new spa and wellness facility.
