The sweetlane concept, piloted in 2022, is designed to speed fulfilment for orders placed via Sweetgreen’s app and website.
More than one-third of the company’s orders are now placed via its own digital channels.
Sweetgreen chief development officer Chris Tarrant stated: “We launched sweetlane to meet our digital customers where they are: busy, mobile and looking for better access to real food.
“As we expand the format across new markets, Costa Mesa represents an exciting next step in our journey to make healthy eating more convenient and accessible, without compromising on quality or experience.”

By GlobalDataThe Costa Mesa location will operate daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm, offering 32 seats across a 2,295ft² footprint.
Menu items include Sweetgreen’s protein-forward salads, bowls and plates such as the Harvest Bowl, the Crispy Rice Bowl and Miso Glazed Salmon.
The brand’s late autumn menu will also be available, featuring new dishes including the Garlic Parm Cauli Bowl and Chicken Cauli Plate, which is layered with caramelised balsamic onions, basil dressing, and roasted romesco sauce.
The opening follows the rollout of Sweetgreen’s macronutrient tracking tool across its digital platforms.
The feature displays protein, carbohydrate and fat information for all menu items and includes a real-time macro calculator that shows how changing ingredients alters a meal’s nutritional balance.
It builds on earlier menu updates that pushed the brand further into protein-forward offerings.
In September 2025, Sweetgreen announced its debut in the US state of Arizona with two new locations scheduled in autumn 2025.
