Casual Mexican restaurant group Tocaya Modern Mexican has collaborated with plant-based meat producer Abbot’s Butcher to include its Chopped Chick’n in all its menu.
Abbot’s Butcher’s Chopped Chick’n is made with pea protein, herbs, sea salt and white pepper. This item will be a suggested protein pairing for several of Tocaya’s main dishes and all entrées.
Chopped Chick’n is claimed to integrate well with the wellness-focused menu of Tocaya.
According to Abbot’s Butcher, its products are made with 100% real ingredients such as non-GMO pea protein, vegetables, herbs and spices and extra virgin olive oil.
The alternative meat producer also claimed that its products do not contain gluten, soy, natural and artificial flavours, preservatives, methylcellulose or canola oil.
Some of the items at the restaurant incorporating the Chopped Chick’n will include Tocaya Salad tossed with Chick’n and a spicy cilantro-lime dressing; the Grilled Pineapple Al Pastor Bowl with Chick’n and cilantro-lime rice; and the Fajita Burrito with Chick’n with vegan chipotle crema.

By GlobalDataAbbot’s Butcher vice-president of sales and foodservice Garrett Miller said: “We are thrilled to launch our Chopped Chick’n at Tocaya! As a local Southern California brand, we were customers first—we loved Tocaya’s commitment to clean, intentionally sourced ingredients and the superb hospitality each restaurant offers.
“Abbot’s Butcher shares this commitment to health and we are elated to provide Tocaya with a better-for-you protein option that all can enjoy, regardless of dietary restrictions.”
Tocaya is claimed to be the only restaurant in the Greater Los Angeles area to have included Abbot’s Butcher Chopped Chick’n in its menus.
However, several independently owned restaurant menus offer the company’s ‘Beef’ and ‘Chorizo’.
