Delivery platform Uber Eats has launched a service that allows 50,000 restaurants in the UK and Ireland to offer food ordering services to customers using their own delivery drivers.

The new service covers restaurants in 100 towns and cities and is also offering them the option of using independent couriers from Uber Eats.

The new delivery option will allow customers to access a wider range of restaurants.

Uber Eats is establishing partnerships with 10,000 restaurants across the UK for the new service and plans to increase the total by 20,000 this year.

“We want to help as many restaurants as possible open their virtual doors and unlock the value of their business with food delivery.”

Following the implementation of the service, the company plans to launch a new service fee structure and self-service sign up tool for restaurants.

In another development, Uber Eats has reportedly entered talks with Indian food delivery company Swiggy to sell its business in a share-swap deal.

According to sources, Uber is also in talks with another Indian online delivery firm Zomato for the deal, reported Times of India.
