US-based seafood restaurant chain Captain D’s is set to open its inaugural UK outlet on 20 October 2025 in Broadstairs, Kent.

The fast-casual diner concept will occupy the former Debenhams unit at the Westwood Cross Shopping Centre.

It is set to offer hand-breaded chicken tenders, milkshake, fries, hush puppies, and Nashville Hot Fish.

Westwood Cross centre director Fran Donovan stated: “Captain D’s is a much-loved American brand, and it brings something truly unique not just to Broadstairs, but to the country.

“We’re excited for our guests to enjoy its signature seafood and chicken dishes and experience its Southern-inspired hospitality for themselves, and we look forward to sharing more details soon.”

The Broadstairs site is the initial opening under a 20-unit master franchise agreement with CD’s Holdings, a local partner.

Two further restaurants in Sussex and Hampshire are scheduled to follow.

Established in 1969 in Donelson, in the US state of Tennessee, Captain D’s operates 530 locations across 23 states.

UK chairman Daryl Stutchbury stated: “Captain D’s isn’t just another fast-food outlet – it’s a premium experience rooted in quality, community and innovation.

“We’re proud to be setting the stage here in Kent and can’t wait to welcome our first guests.”

In early 2025, Captain D’s announced US growth, including developments in Maryland and additional expansion in Texas.

In May 2024, the seafood restaurant chain also revealed expansion in the US with a 26-store franchise development deal.

The deal was signed with multi-brand franchisees Keith Johnson and Kevin Davis of Amazing Seafood.
