CJ CheilJedang is set to begin exporting its all-purpose kimchi cooking sauce to 12 countries in September 2025, aiming to meet the demand of restaurants and food service providers for authentic Korean flavours.

The sauce, which can be stored at room temperature for up to 18 months, can be used to prepare a variety of kimchi-based dishes.

Exporting countries include Brazil, Chile, France, Guam, Japan, Uzbekistan, and the UK.

The sauce has been developed using CJ CheilJedang's patented fermentation technology, ensuring the authentic taste of kimchi while offering consistent quality across all products.

This innovation comes as a solution to the longstanding issues of fermentation affecting kimchi quality over time, as well as distribution and storage challenges.

In 2024, CJ CheilJedang launched a new department focused on creating versatile food ingredients for the global B2B market.

Since then, their chocolate churros dessert, initially developed for McDonald's Korea, have made their way to McDonald's outlets in Hong Kong.

The company's expertise has also been sought by international brands like Yang Guo Fu and Uni-President for introducing kimchi-flavoured products.

CJ CheilJedang's move to diversify menus with kimchi-based offerings has attracted interest from Korean restaurants across Europe and Asia.

It also plans to expand its authentic Korean sauce menu worldwide, including to the Americas and Oceania.

The sauce will ensure consistency in taste and quality of Korean foods overseas by providing a genuine burst of kimchi and traditional Korean flavours, according to a company official.

The company has observed a keen interest in their new sauce from food ingredient markets in Europe, Japan, and China. Additionally, countries in the Middle East, where climatic conditions restrict access to kimchi, have been actively seeking this product, the official added.
