US Mexican restaurant chain Coyo Taco is preparing to establish its presence in the UK after entering a franchise agreement with investment company Kuvi Hospitality.

The company is in the process of securing a location in London, projected to open in early 2026.

Kuvi Hospitality, led by Shereen Ritchie, will spearhead the London launch of US brands in the UK market.

Ritchie stated: “The freshness of the food, the vibrancy of the speakeasy and the authenticity of its Mexican roots make it stand out from anything else in the UK market.

“We believe Coyo Taco will strike a powerful chord with Londoners and has the potential to thrive nationwide.”

Coyo Taco was co-founded in 2015 by Alan Drummond, Sven Vogtland and chef Scott Linquist in Miami's Wynwood Arts District.

It is known for its fresh tacos, salsas and Mexican street food.

It currently operates 11 locations globally: six in the US and outlets in Portugal, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Colombia.

Sven Vogtland was quoted by Restaurantonline: “Kuvi combines proven leadership, ambition and strong financial backing, giving us complete confidence in their ability to grow Coyo Taco in the UK with integrity and vision.”

Coyo Taco combines authentic Mexican street food with a vibrant speakeasy atmosphere, offering mezcal, [a distilled spirit], live DJs and late-night events.

The company also provides boxed lunches and catering services.
