US-based burger restaurant chain Islands Restaurants has launched 'Tortilla Beach by Islands', a new delivery and take-out concept.

The company said this new concept has been introduced to celebrate the Southern California (SoCal) food culture, which includes tacos, carne asada burritos and bowls with simple and fresh ingredients.

All the items included in the Tortilla Beach by Islands concept, such as Mexican-inspired bowls, tacos and burritos, can be customised with four proteins and a range of house-made toppings, depending on the choice of customers.

The Tortilla Beach concept also serves pineapple-cilantro slaw, as well as sherry and lime-seasoned tortilla strips.

To add to this new experience, Tortilla Beach will also feature a wide variety of beverages and dessert options.

The drinks, which have been "developed by experts," include Chili Mangorita and Sunburn Margarita, along with cocktails such as Deep Blue Sea, which contains the actor Jason Momoa's vodka, Meili vodka.

For desserts, diners can order the Islands Restaurants' Tres Leches Cake, with a selection of toppings.

All the food and beverages under this concept have been crafted to be take-out and delivery friendly.

Customers can find the newly launched Tortilla Beach by Islands on various food delivery platforms, including Doordash and Uber Eats. Alternatively, they can order directly through the restaurant group's website (islandsrestaurants.com).

One of the creators of the concept, TK, said: "Tortilla Beach was designed during the Covid-19 shutdown when Islands realised burgers and fries simply do not travel very well.

"But burritos, bowls and tacos do. So, Tortilla Beach was designed to fit within the Islands' brand while showcasing our beloved Southern California style of Mexican cuisine."

Based in Carlsbad, California, Islands Restaurants was founded in 1982. The brand offers its customers burgers and tropical drinks with a beach-themed experience.

It currently operates a total of 42 restaurants across California and Arizona.
