Family restaurant chain Metro Diner has launched its inaugural restaurant in Evansville in the US state of Indiana.

The 3,600ft² outlet is located at 945 N. Burkhardt Road in Lillian Plaza.

Owned and operated by managing partner Chris Wyatt, it seats 96 diners indoors and has space for 24 on the patio.

Wyatt stated: "I couldn't be more excited to open our doors here in Evansville.

"We think the community is going to love our all-day menu loaded with familiar favourites and we look forward to hosting them at our table for breakfast, lunch and dinner."

Metro Diner offers loaded omelettes, biscuits and gravy and speciality burgers made with 100% Angus beef.

Signature entrées include the Iron City Meatloaf, which is griddle-seared and comes with brown gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans.

The restaurant also serves Fried Chicken & Waffle: half a fried chicken with a Belgian waffle, powdered sugar, strawberry butter and the chain’s sweet-and-spicy sauce.

The menu also features a Fried Chicken Benedict blending crispy chicken, flaky biscuit and hollandaise.

Wyatt, an Atlanta native, began his hospitality career as a waiter and became part of Metro Diner in 2017 when he launched the Dothan, Alabama outlet.

Situated close to downtown Evansville and retail outlets including Sam’s Club and Costco, the diner current serves breakfast and lunch daily from 7am to 3pm.

It plans to extend hours to 8 p.m. for dinner service in a few weeks.

Earlier this month, Metro Diner launched its first restaurant in Palm Harbor, Florida, US.

That location, the chain’s sixth in the Tampa Bay area, is at 35000 US Highway 19N in The Fountains shopping centre.
