US-based restaurant concept Moona is set to open a second location in December 2025, inside the MIT Engine Building in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Situated at 750 Main Street in Cambridge’s Central Square, the expansion builds on its Inman Square restaurant and will ultimately become its flagship.

The new site will seat 97 guests across a 57-seat dining room, a 10-seat bar and a 30-seat café that operates by day and transitions into a lounge at night.

Dinner service will focus on Levantine flavours, featuring a bread and dip section, mezze, large-format shared plates, whole fish and lamb.

The wine list will highlight Lebanese, Greek and Georgian producers, complemented by a bar programme of seasonal cocktails and mocktails.

By day, the Sawa Café will run as a fast-casual concept serving breakfast, including croissants, and lunch. Its lunch menu will include sandwiches, salads, dips, mezze and sweets.

By night, the Sahra Lounge will operate in the café space.

The location is led by owner Mohamad El Zein, alongside general manager Robert Taylor overseeing front-of-house operations.

Pastry chef Giselle Miller will lead the pastry programme, while Scott Ryan will serve as executive chef.

Kaila Fong will oversee events and catering. Hassan Sawly, formerly with Chickadee and Les Sablons, will head beverages.

Mohamad El Zein stated: "Moona has always been about the pantry, which preserves fresh local ingredients for use year-round.

"We're continuing to dive deeper into sourcing spices, olives, molasses, oils, tweaking spice blends, pickling, nuts, honeys and so much more. It's not just the food at the table that's enjoyable, it's also everything else at the table. That's where we come in, to brighten the day!"

Dinner service will run from 5pm to 9pm Tuesday to Thursday and 5pm to 10pm Friday and Saturday, with Sunday and Monday closed. Further hours will be announced.
