Nando’s has launched its first drive-through in Roxburgh Park, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, in a new phase of its growth strategy there.

The outlet combines the drive-through with a traditional dine-in restaurant.

The Roxburgh Park opening is part of a broader expansion plan, described by Nando’s Australia and New Zealand CEO Amanda Banfield: “Over the next three years [to 2028], we’re planning to open another 25 Nando’s restaurants across Australia and New Zealand, growing our workforce by 1,000 people.

“We’ve been privileged to be part of the Australian restaurant industry for 35 years, and this marks yet another milestone of how Nando’s is evolving.”

Nando’s, which has set a target to establish 70 new restaurants in the Australian and New Zealand market by 2030, was quoted by 7NEWS: “Over the years, Nando’s has run a variety of trial concepts, including pick-up windows. However, this drive-through format is certainly the first of its kind for the brand and market.

“The Roxburgh Park drive-through represents the new generation of experience that Nando’s is bringing to the ANZ market.”

Nando's PERi-PERi recently announced its third location in the Montrose area of Houston in the US state of Texas.

The chain had already established a joint venture with India’s food service company K Hospitality to bolster its presence in the country, with plans to launch 150 new restaurants across Indian cities by 2033.

Since its 1987 debut in Johannesburg, South Africa, Nando's has expanded in 24 nations across five continents, offering its signature 24-hour marinated, flame-grilled chicken.
