US fast-casual chain PDQ Chicken, in partnership with self-ordering technology provider GRUBBRR, has implemented self-ordering kiosks across its 53 locations.

This move comes after a successful pilot programme that demonstrated the technology's ability to reduce operating costs and enhance the customer experience.

The Samsung kiosks powered by GRUBBRR have been introduced in all states where PDQ operates. These include Florida, North Carolina, New York, and New Jersey. The three-phase rollout began in April 2023 and was finalised in early June.

The partnership between PDQ and GRUBBRR began with a pilot programme in August 2023 to assess the impact of self-ordering technology on the business. The results showed that the Samsung kiosk powered by GRUBBRR exceeded expectations by increasing the average ticket and creating operational efficiencies, resulting in PDQ's decision to select GRUBBRR as its exclusive provider.

PDQ CEO Kep Sweeney expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating: "We are thrilled to partner with GRUBBRR to enhance the guest experience at PDQ. This partnership aligns with our commitment to innovation. By implementing GRUBBRR's self-ordering technology, we are excited to streamline operations, improve efficiency and embrace digital solutions to meet the evolving needs of our guests."

Echoing the sentiment, GRUBBRR CEO Sam Zietz said, "PDQ is a forward-thinking brand, implementing digital technologies to further their mission of providing the highest quality of service and food to their guests. With our technology, PDQ restaurants will be able to create operational efficiencies that help streamline the ordering process and enhance the customer experience, while simultaneously increasing revenue."

The integration of the Samsung kiosk with PDQ's existing point-of-sale systems allows for seamless data flow and reporting.

PDQ can now monitor performance against key performance indicators and benchmarks for success through the enterprise portal's point of service reporting features.
