The Clarence Hotel pub on the Wirral and the Red Lion Inn in Axminster, Devon, both in the UK, have re-opened following six-figure investments in refurbishments by the Stonegate Group.

The hotel has undergone a full redecoration, including the installation of a audio-visual system, professional-standard darts area and a pool table.

The beer garden has been expanded, providing additional seating.

With new Sky Q boxes, the pub can showcase a variety of sports in HD.

Hotel operator Georgina Gaines stated: “We have loved reopening our doors and welcoming both new and returning guests back to the new-look Clarence Hotel!

“The refurbishment has improved our position as the best place to watch sports in the area, while our strong events schedule consistently provides our guests with reasons to visit.

“The six-figure investment has allowed us to create a space that is more inviting, and enjoyable community space for everyone. With our new pub sports offering, we’re aiming to be the best place to watch and enjoy pub sports in the area.”

The Red Lion Inn, a staple in Axminster since 1857, has also been revamped.

The pub's refurbishment also includes a new audio-visual (AV) system, professional-standard darts area and live sports-watching facilities.

The exterior has been updated with new festoon lighting and furniture, enhancing the outdoor space.

The Red Lion Inn operator Lee Marsden stated: “We’re so excited to re-open our doors and welcome both new and familiar faces back to The Red Lion Inn.

“The refurbishment has strengthened our reputation as the go-to spot for watching live sport, and our packed events schedule means there’s always a reason to visit and enjoy a drink with us.

“Thanks to a six-figure investment, we’ve created a more inviting, vibrant space for the whole community to enjoy. I can’t wait to see everyone experiencing all the fantastic new features as we begin this exciting new chapter.”

The pub's beverages include beers, ciders, wines, and no and low-alcohol options, all priced competitively.

In May 2025, Stonegate Group invested a six-figure sum into the Punch Bowl pub in Hull, UK, leading to its reopening.
