Taco Bell adds meat alternatives to menu across its UK restaurants

The new plant protein features a mix of plant-based ingredients mixed with Taco Bell’s seasoning.

July 07 2023

Mexican-inspired quick service restaurant brand Taco Bell has introduced plant-based alternatives to its menus across all its 132 locations in the UK, according to the Nottingham Post.

It has been prepared with a mix of plant-based ingredients such as peas and legumes, with Taco Bell’s seasoning.

The meat alternatives are currently part of the Taco Tuesday deals. Guests can buy a Crunchy Taco and a regular drink for £2 ($2.55).

It is estimated that 20% of the people in the UK now identify themselves to be flexitarian. This estimate is set to increase to 50% by 2025.

The move is part of Taco Bell’s strategy to meet the growing demand for such products. It will also support the rising flexitarian lifestyle trend by offering options for people who look for plant-based alternatives.

In a separate development, Taco Bell franchise Diversified Restaurant Group (DRG) has announced plans to reopen a Taco Bell outlet in Reno, Nevada, US, next week after a full renovation.

It includes an open kitchen, a tailormade menu and an urban restaurant design to target to-go customers.

Late last month, Taco Bell announced its partnership with American media personality Paris Hilton to relaunch Volcano Menu in the US.
