Restaurant technology company Toast is set to add 120 roles in Dublin, Ireland, over the next three years as part of a new AI-focused research and development investment.
The posts will be based at Toast’s Dublin headquarters and will support the integration of intelligent tools across its platform.
The company also aims to use AI to support productivity within its R&D operations.
Toast global engineering head and Ireland site leader Dave Fleming said: “This programme represents a step-change in the scope and ambition of our Irish operation, as our Dublin team will spearhead end-to-end platforms for our global customers, leveraging AI to shape the next generation of technology for the hospitality sector.”
As part of the project, Toast is updating its global platform architecture, moving towards modular and scalable systems that can be adapted for additional regions, sectors and customer types.
The initiative marks a further stage in Toast’s growth in Ireland.
Ireland Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Minister Peter Burke said: “Toast’s decision to expand its R&D operations in Dublin and create 120 new high-quality roles is a clear vote of confidence in Ireland’s position as a global hub for innovation and technology.
“This investment, with a strong focus on AI, aligns with our national ambition to lead in digital transformation.’’
The company, whose software is used to connect different parts of hospitality operations from kitchen to customer service, has maintained an engineering presence in Dublin since 2017.
The latest investment is being backed by the national government through IDA Ireland.
IDA Ireland CEO Michael Lohan said: “This decision by Toast to develop their R&D offering with a focus on AI in Dublin is a testament to Ireland’s reputation as a global leader in technology and innovation.
“The creation of 120 new jobs in Dublin will help strengthen Ireland’s capability for AI development, which is a key focus in IDA Ireland’s strategy for 2025-2029. I would like to wish Toast every success with this R&D project.”
Toast’s existing customers in the Irish market include Bewley’s, Kicky’s, Oakberry and the Eclective Hospitality Group.
