US fast-casual restaurant chain Wingstop has hit a milestone with its 3,000th restaurant globally.

The move comes as the chain continues to push towards its stated aim of becoming a top 10 global restaurant brand with a long-term target of more than 10,000 sites.

Wingstop president and CEO Michael Skipworth stated: "We've scaled from 2,000 to 3,000 restaurants in just over two years, with proven runway in our domestic and international businesses. This milestone demonstrates the strength of our brand, the whitespace ahead and the global craving for Wingstop's bold flavour."

Since 2023, the company has opened close to 800 locations and increased its international presence by half, entering Australia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands.

The chain is now present in 47 US states and 15 international markets, with openings in Thailand, Italy and Ireland expected

Its recent growth has been underpinned largely by existing franchise operators.

More than 70 brand partners increased their number of Wingstop outlets in the third quarter of 2025.

Established in 1994 and based in the US state of Texas, the brand's franchisees account for 98% of its estate.

Its menu features cooked-to-order classic and boneless wings, tenders and chicken sandwiches, alongside sides and housemade ranch and cheese dips.

For fiscal 2024, the group reported system-wide sales of $5bn.

In October 2025, Wingstop outlined plans to deepen its presence in Canada through three new restaurants scheduled to open in Calgary in 2026. The development follows its entry into Ontario in 2022 and forms part of a wider 100-location agreement with JPK Capital, which holds the master franchise rights for Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

In early 2025, the company disclosed that it is testing an AI-driven kitchen operations platform designed to expedite service and simplify tasks for back-of-house staff.
