US-based fast-casual restaurant chain Portillo’s has named Brett Patterson as its next president and CEO, effective 23 February 2026.
As part of the appointment, he will also join the company’s board of directors.

In a statement, Portillo’s said Patterson brings “extensive leadership experience” from major national restaurant brands, with experience in operations, team development and growth initiatives.
Portillo’s board chairman Michael A Miles said: “Brett has all the right qualities to lead Portillo’s into its next chapter of growth.
“He brings the strategic mindset, operations expertise, and leadership style needed to grow this brand, while preserving what makes Portillo’s so special and unique.
“Having worked his way up through the ranks and served in virtually every operational role within a restaurant, he understands the business from the ground up and the people who make it a success every day.”

By GlobalDataIn his new role, Patterson will lead the company’s overall strategy. He will oversee market positioning, expanding the restaurant footprint and enhancing operational performance.
He will also be expected to continue investment in staff and focus on improving the customer experience.

Portillo’s has more than 100 restaurants across 11 states and sells select items nationwide through its website, shipping to all 50 states.
In April 2025, Portillo’s launched a breakfast menu in Chicago.
