Uber is preparing to expand its delivery operations into seven additional European countries in 2026, a move that may further intensify competition in the growing food delivery market.
According to a Financial Times (FT) report, the US-based company plans to launch services in Austria, Denmark, Finland and Norway, alongside the Czech Republic, Greece and Romania.

Uber’s global head of delivery Susan Anderson told the publication: “We’re excited to be entering seven new markets where the incumbent has grown comfortable. We think it’s time to raise the bar, shake things up and deliver better value across the category.”
The move will bring Uber into closer competition with Finland-based Wolt, acquired in 2022 by US food delivery group DoorDash.
The expansion comes amid continuing consolidation across Europe’s food delivery sector.
Prosus, the European investment arm of South African group Naspers, agreed a €4.1bn deal last year to take Just Eat Takeaway private.

Last week, Uber also outlined plans to purchase Getir’s food delivery business in Turkey. Anderson said the deal would “complement” Uber’s existing Turkish operation, Trendyol Go.
“By bringing those two companies together, we’re able to continue to deliver to the restaurant merchants all the demand they’ve been used to, but also be able to consolidate and use our global tech within that market,” she told FT.
The latest European push follows increases in Uber’s market share in several of its largest regional markets, including the UK, Germany, France and Spain.
Anderson said the delivery arm had benefited from cross-selling to users of Uber’s ride-hailing app: “We have a strong established relationship with customers from the Uber [ride-hailing] side, which has always been our advantage in this space.”
