According to the report, the fast-food giant began its latest expansion by opening a new restaurant in New Ross last month, which the company is treating as the first step in a multi‑year growth strategy.
The group intends to add five outlets a year over five years.
McDonald’s UK and Ireland development vice‑president Mike Spencer was quoted by the publication as saying: “The outlook for McDonald’s in Ireland is very positive, and we have a clear plan to invest more than €150m here over the next five years.
“That investment will support the opening of up to five new restaurants each year – around 25 in total – and the creation of approximately 1,750 new jobs across the country.”
