Under the contract, Elior UK will work with the WWT team to roll out an updated food and drink offer aligned with the centre’s environmental focus, with an emphasis on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

Elior UK marketing and concessions director Claire Small said: “WWT London Wetland Centre is a truly special place, and we are proud to have been appointed as its catering partner.

“This partnership gives us the opportunity to create a food and hospitality offer that enhances the visitor experience while staying true to the centre’s environmental values and conservation mission.”

As part of the programme, the main visitor café will be rebranded as The Reedbed Café.

Elior will also collaborate with the venue team to shape a flexible hospitality offer for meetings, private hires and celebrations held at the WWT London Wetland Centre.

The catering company will also work on measures to support conservation priorities such as cutting waste, prioritising responsible sourcing and giving visitors clearer information about the environmental impact of different food choices.

WWT Operations and Innovation head Martin Senior said: “We look forward to working together with Elior UK to deliver a catering experience to our visitors that aligns with our core values as the wetland charity.”

Last July, Elior UK received a six-year contract with Scotland’s Dundee United Football Club to take over all hospitality and catering services at Tannadice Park.
