DoorDash and Alphabet-owned Wing have introduced drone-based food deliveries in metro Atlanta area of the US.
The service will be available to eligible DoorDash customers living near Tanger Outlets Locust Grove. They can order meals from selected local and national restaurant partners in the area and opt for drone deliveries.

The first participating brands are Molinos Mexican Grill, Koji Japanese Steakhouse and Sabrosos Mexican Restaurant.
The rollout adds to an existing network built by DoorDash and Wing since they began working together in 2022.
The companies have already introduced drone delivery operations in parts of Southwest Virginia, and the Dallas–Fort Worth and Charlotte regions, where they report having completed tens of thousands of flights.
DoorDash drone programme head Harrison Shih said: “Autonomous delivery is an important part of how we’re making local commerce faster, more delightful, and more sustainable.
“We’re excited to introduce drone delivery to metro Atlanta with Wing as we continue to expand our autonomous capabilities and bring new delivery options to DoorDash consumers.
“By bringing our Wing partnership to a new city, we’re helping local merchants reach more consumers while improving speed and reliability.”
The companies say the ordering process is integrated into the existing DoorDash app.
Consumers in the serviceable zone will see a drone symbol in the app interface and can browse restaurants that support the option.
If the basket’s contents fit within the specified weight and size requirements and the delivery address is inside the approved radius, customers can choose drone delivery at checkout and follow the flight in real time until it arrives.
Wing chief business officer Heather Rivera said: “Metro Atlanta residents deserve an easy, ultra-fast way to enjoy their favourite meals at peak freshness.
“Wing completes thousands of drone deliveries daily across major US metros, and growing our DoorDash partnership helps us deliver that speed to even more local doorsteps.”
