SSP America, a division of SSP Group, has reopened revamped Five Borough Food Hall in John F Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 4 in partnership with terminal operator JFKIAT.

The food hall was originally developed jointly by SSP America and JFKIAT, now hosts an all-day mix of outlets including For Five Coffee Roasters, Dromos Fresh Greek Food, Mango Taco Truck, Five Borough Food Hall Deli and 5BFH Pizza.

The line-up serves locally roasted coffee and pastries, Greek-style bowls, tacos, burritos, New York deli sandwiches, pizza, salads and a selection of grab-and-go items.

The remodeled food hall introduces multiple counters with distinct menus and visual identities, alongside grab-and-go merchandising and a variety of meal formats.

Design changes feature wood finishes, brick effects, mural-wrapped columns, subway-style tiles, bold menu boards, branded chillers and open service counters.

The set-up is intended to mirror storefronts, delis, slice shops, coffee counters and global flavours linked to New York’s five boroughs.

A key feature of the revamped food hall is the addition of For Five Coffee Roasters, a Queens-founded speciality brand known for small-batch roasting and café spaces.

For Five Coffee Roasters’ menu offerings at the Five Borough Food Hall includes hot and iced espresso drinks, cold brew, matcha, chai, pastries and signature options such as The Five and The Louie.

SSP America CEO George Mboya said: “Five Borough Food Hall has always captured what makes New York such an extraordinary food city: its pace, diversity, and creativity.

“This refresh marks an exciting new chapter for a concept created specifically for JFK Terminal 4 and a key part of our partnership with JFKIAT.

“Together, we’re continuing to deliver authentic dining experiences that reflect the city outside the terminal and bring the best part of the journey to life for our travellers.”

The reopening coincides with Terminal 4’s 25th anniversary.

The terminal spans more than two million square feet, handles over 27 million passengers a year, accommodates 21 airlines and supports about 12,000 employees.

JFKIAT CEO Roel Huinink said: “Marking the reopening of Five Borough Food Hall at JFK T4 is a significant milestone as we continue to elevate the terminal experience for our passengers.

“Thanks to our long-lasting partnership with SSP America, who have been instrumental throughout our 25-year journey, passengers at T4 will have access to a curated selection of exceptional culinary options, offering a New York sense of place that aligns with the Port Authority’s vision for JFK.

“The addition of For Five Coffee Roasters exemplifies that vision, and we’re very pleased that this local Queens-based business will have the opportunity to enter the airport concessions space for the first time with the benefit of SSP’s global expertise and mentorship.”

In April this year, SSP Group launched new restaurant concept, Flax & Soda, at Belfast International Airport in Northern Ireland.
