Compass Group UK & Ireland division ESS Government has retained its catering and facilities management contract with Thames Valley Police for another three years.

The renewal follows work carried out since 2022 at the force’s training centre in Sulhamstead, UK, where ESS provides catering and hospitality, along with planned and emergency operational feeding across the region.

As part of the deal, ESS will refurbish the training site’s restaurant counters, which offer cakes, hot drinks, hot and cold breakfasts, lunches and pastries.

Thames Valley Police procurement manager operational Thom Wilson said: “We are pleased to have extended our partnership with ESS.

“The contract renewal reflects the strong working relationship established and ESS’ consistent delivery, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration.”

The extended deal also covers catering for the force’s annual open day and its twice‑yearly recruitment events.

ESS will introduce social value measures, including, with the client’s involvement, supplying food to soup kitchens in Newbury and Oxford and recruiting staff through Compass’ Social Partner Hub, which helps people facing difficulties enter work.

The Thames Valley Police contract sits alongside ESS Government’s other contracts with City of London Police, Bedfordshire Police, Hertfordshire Constabulary, the Metropolitan Police, Surrey Police, Sussex Police and West Midlands Police.

ESS Government managing director Richard Jones said: “We’re delighted to have extended our successful partnership with Thames Valley Police.

“Over the past three years, we’ve built great relationships within the force and worked collaboratively to deliver high-quality services on a daily basis, as well as providing operational feeding for numerous complex and important events.”
