Smoothie King is set to enter the Grand Rapids market in the US state of Michigan, a significant step in the brand’s expansion strategy.
The American smoothie brand has signed development agreements for six units scheduled to open in the Grand Rapids designated market area (DMA) from early 2025 onwards.
The move furthers Smoothie King’s 2024 development growth goal of launching 100 new stores.
The franchise agreements have been signed with OM Group, a franchise organisation developing Smoothie King outlets across key US markets.
Franchise owners Amit Patel, Kalpesh Patel and Amanda Ristic will spearhead the development of these new stores within the Grand Rapids DMA, encompassing Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, Holland, Kentwood, Muskegon and Wyoming.
Smoothie King chief development officer Chris Bremer said: “We love showing up in a new market in a big way and bringing our brand of nutritious, delicious smoothies to new guests — and Grand Rapids is definitely no exception.

Smoothie King has appointed Brian Olson as vice-president of its real estate division.
Olson has more than a decade of experience in development and the restaurant industry.
He joined the Smoothie King team in May 2024 following a three-year tenure in franchise sales at CKE Restaurants, the parent company of Carl’s Jr and Hardees.
His role will involve leading the real estate team and formulating strategies that will be crucial for the brand’s growth and market presence enhancement.
The Dallas-based brand has 1,200 units globally.
In March 2024 it signed multi-unit development agreements to establish seven new venues in Las Vegas.
This will more than triple its presence in the Las Vegas market, where it has three operating locations.
