McDonald’s Japan has suspended 30% of its stores across the country as a result of systems outage, Bloomberg News has reported.
The issue, which began early in the morning on 19 July 2024, has affected cash registers, prompting the fast-food giant to suspend operations in the impacted outlets.
According to a local news agency, the restaurant chain is “currently investigating the cause, and the timeline for recovery is unclear.”
KYODO NEWS stated that McDonald’s Japan is actively investigating the cause of the outage.
Some stores have also halted mobile orders through the official McDonald’s app due to potential system issues.
In March 2024, the fast-food giant faced similar technical difficulties, with a systems outage that began in the Asia-Pacific region and escalated to a global scale.
