Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity

Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations, with a share of 23%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the food service industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 45% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 17% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 56% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with a 14% share in Q4 2023, Personal Care and Service Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in food service industry accounted for 75% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Domino's Pizza, Brunning & Price, Aimbridge Hospitality, Starbucks, and University of Texas at Austin Division of Housing and Food Service. Together they accounted for a combined share of 75% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the food service industry.

Domino's Pizza posted 462 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Brunning & Price 254 jobs, Aimbridge Hospitality 94 jobs, Starbucks 89 jobs, and University of Texas at Austin Division of Housing and Food Service 78 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 56.92% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the food service industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 56.92% followed by the UK (28.62%) and Australia (8.46%). The share represented by the US was six percentage points higher than the 50.73% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
