Transportation and Material Moving Occupations drive food service industry hiring activity

Transportation and Material Moving Occupations, with a share of 18% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the North American food service industry in Q3 2023 , ahead of Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 16% share of new job postings.

The other prominent roles included Management Occupations with a 13% share in Q3 2023, Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations with a 12% share and Production Occupations with a 2% share of new job postings.

Top five companies accounted for 80% of hiring activity

Domino's Pizza posted 115,616 jobs in Q3 2023 and registered a growth of 14% over the previous quarter, followed by Aimbridge Hospitality with 8,887 jobs and a 47% growth. Carrols Restaurant Group, with 4,227 jobs, and Compass Group, with 3,342 jobs, recorded a 58% drop and a 20% rise, respectively, while Starbucks recorded a 18% decline with a 3,213 new job postings during Q3 2023.

The US held the leading share of the North American food service hiring activity with a 97.25% share, a 14% decrease over Q2 2023. Canada was next with 2.73%, four-percentage-point down over the previous quarter.
