The global food service industry noticed a 15.8% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 over the previous month, led by Bloomin’ Brands 28.55% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The food service industry’s overall hiring activity declined 18.38% when compared with May 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 0.68% share of the global food service industry’s hiring activity in June 2022, down 0.05% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2022 were 4.83% higher when compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 18% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 43.05% emerged as the top IT occupation in the food service hiring activity in June 2022, a 57.14% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 27.04% in June 2022, up 44.35% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a 16.62% share in June 2022, a decline of 38.89% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with an 8.01% share in June 2022 and a rise of 3.92% over May 2022.
Top five food service companies by recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 48.93% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global food service industry during June 2022 over May 2022.
Bloomin’ Brands posted 189 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a drop of 69.02% over the previous month, followed by Aimbridge Hospitality with 100 jobs and a 222.58% growth. AmRest Holdings with 65 IT jobs and Denny’s with 39 jobs, recorded a 35.64% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Delivery Hero recorded a 63% drop with 37 job postings during June 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in food service industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global food service IT hiring activity in June 2022 with a 76.59% share, which marked a 37.25% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 8.61%, registering a 65.87% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with an 8.16% share and a 285.71% rise over May 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 4.38% and a month-on-month drop of 57.97%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 2.27%, registering a 650% increase over the previous month.
